CPS Acceptance: Teddy

After several months of preparing for the CPS High School Entrance Exam with one of our tutors, Teddy was accepted to Lane Tech College Prep, a competitive high school in Chicago!

Through these sessions, we reviewed relevant 7th and 8th grade English and Math topics to prepare him for the exam. Most tutoring companies struggle to prepare students for this exam as no real exams are available to the public. However, we have created our own customized question bank, developed with feedback from real students (and our tutors) that have taken the CPS HS entrance exam!

Here is a review from his mom about our service and some advice he has for other students:

“Teddy participated in Selective Enrollment Prep tutoring with Maize and Blue Tutoring English and Math starting in 7th and 8th grade.

His experience was fantastic. He tutored with a fellow classmate at Alcott College Prep so it was a nice extension of what they were learning school together.  The experience was wonderful, The tutor explained problems at a good pace, made sure they were grasping all concepts and felt confident for the test ahead.

Teddy decided to go to Lane Tech College Prep. He is currently in Geometry with Trigonometry and feels that his math skills are strong and is currently scoring high marks on tests this freshman year.

He is on the Lane Tech Freshman Volleyball Team.  He is also a avid pickleball player and enjoys improv and theatre at school. Teddy preferred taking the admissions exam because it was shorter and he got through it quicker than other exams. He felt prepared for the test and on a whole it wasn’t hard. Advice for students applying this year is to prepare ahead of time with tutoring and don’t take too long on any question and especially go quicker in the math section. He feels the reading section takes a bit more time to get through.”
